National Investment Bank (NIB) has donated three (3) desktop computers to the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) in a bid to retool their Word Processing Centre which is in dire need of computers. The Word Processing Centre (WPC), according to the Command is a critical unit which processes most of the documents that aid in their work. A revamped WPC has the potential to hugely enhance police operations, and by extension, enable the service communicate better with both their internal and external publics. Presenting the items to the Regional Command, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Mr. Tweneboah Kodua Fokuo emphasized NIB’s commitment to helping the GPS execute its mandate of providing security to all citizens and businesses, adding that “NIB values its relationship with the GPS and therefore deems it a responsibility to support the Service.” Mr. Kodua Fokuo reiterated that “support for the Police Service by NIB will not end here. We have done this for many years and I can assure you that we will continue to support you.” He further expressed appreciation to the GSP for the sustained business relationship with NIB, and the immense security support the service provides the country. ASP Boateng Boampong in receiving the items on behalf of the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Iddi Seidu noted that, the Command is exceptionally grateful to NIB for the gesture because it will go a long way to facilitate their work. “The computers at the WPC have been in operation for well over 8 years, not to even mention the fact that they were slightly-used when they were purchased. Given the volume of documents the WPC deals with, out-of-touch computers adversely affect our operation,” he emphasized.
