Profile
Musah Abdul-Rahman is a highly respected banking executive and financial strategist with over 20 years of progressive experience in corporate banking, international trade finance, SME development, and financial risk management. He currently serves as the Acting Chief Corporate, Development, Government and SME Banking Officer at National Investment Bank Plc (NIB), where he leads the strategic direction and operations of one of the bank’s most critical divisions. In this role, Mr. Abdul-Rahman oversees the design and execution of integrated financial solutions tailored to large corporates, public sector institutions, and small and medium-sized enterprises. He is responsible for driving business growth, enhancing quality credit portfolio, deepening public-private partnerships, and improving financial inclusion through SME-focused initiatives.
His leadership is pivotal in aligning the bank’s service delivery with national development goals, particularly in industrialization, infrastructure financing, energy, manufacturing, and agribusiness. Throughout his career, Musah has held senior leadership roles in some of Ghana’s leading financial institutions, including Bank of Africa Ghana Limited and Access Bank Ghana Limited. His portfolio includes successful stints as Head of Cross-Border Trade and Business Synergy, Head of Corporate Banking, and Head of Global Trade & International Payments.
In each role, he has delivered measurable impact by expanding trade finance capabilities, strengthening correspondent banking networks, and securing multi-million-dollar trade credit lines from top-tier international banks including Commerzbank, IFC, Citibank amongst others. An expert in regulatory compliance, foreign operations, and risk management, Musah is also deeply invested in human capital development, having mentored numerous banking professionals and led capacity-building initiatives across institutions. He has facilitated training for both bank staff and clients on trade finance and international banking best practices, and has consistently maintained clean records with no operational lapses or sanctions under his watch.
Musah holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA),a Chartered Accountant (ICA Ghana) and Post qualification diploma in Oil and Gas accounting(ICA Ghana). He also holds Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) degree from the University of Cape Coast and HND Accountancy from Kumasi Technical University. He has completed international executive training in trade finance, compliance, and sustainable finance from institutions in Germany, the UK, and elsewhere. Beyond his executive duties, he plays a leadership role in the financial services ecosystem as: Interim President, Global Trade SpecialistForum (GTSF), Ghana Vice President, Banking Commission, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Ghana Chapter His exceptionalservice and contribution to Ghana’s banking sector have earned him multiple recognitions, including: · GAB Award in recognition of exceptional contributions to advancing trade services practices in Ghana, 2023 · Lead the BOA team to win Trade Finance Bank of the year 2021_Accountancy & Finance Awards · Awarded for the positive impact of the Cross-border trade department brought to the bottom line of Bank of Africa Ghana in 2020
