Mr. Frank Brako Adu Jr. is a distinguished banker and corporate leader whose career spans over three decades of impactful service in Ghana's financial sector. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at National Investment Bank PLC (NIB), bringing to the role a legacy of innovation, disciplined governance, and transformational leadership.
From 2000 to 2019, Mr. Adu served as the Managing Director of CAL Bank PLC, where he led the Bank through a period of rapid expansion, significantly increasing its asset base, branch network, and market share. His tenure is marked by several key milestones, including the Bank's successful IPO, a groundbreaking head office development project, and securing funding from Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and international financial partners. Prior to this, he held key roles at CAL Bank as Deputy Managing Director, Treasurer, and Senior Analyst, gaining expertise across corporate finance, treasury management, and credit analysis.
Mr. Adu is widely respected for his commitment to strategic planning, risk management, financial stewardship, and corporate governance. Beyond the boardroom, he is a strong advocate of community engagement, diversity and inclusion, and social impact. He is equally passionate about education and mentoring, having co-founded The Roman Ridge School and served on multiple educational and development-focused boards.
He currently serves as Chairman of several organisations, including Mojo Payments Limited and The Roman Ridge School. He is also a board member of Quality Insurance Company Limited (QIC), University of Ghana Enterprises Limited (UGEL), and GAB Health Insurance Company.
Mr. Adu holds an MBA in Finance and a BA in Geography from the University of Ghana, Legon, and is an alumnus of the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, where he completed the Strategic Leadership Programme.
His outstanding contributions to banking and national development have earned him numerous accolades, including Africa Banker of the Year (2018), a Lifetime Award from the Ghana Association of Bankers (2016), and an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Ghana (2013). He is also an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana.
