Dr. Shani Bashiru

Dr. Shani Bashiru is a seasoned academic, corporate governance expert, and financial consultant with over two decades of diverse experience spanning finance, marketing, management, local governance, and public sector development. He brings to the Board of National Investment Bank PLC a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record in institutional leadership, capacity building, and strategic consultancy.

Dr. Bashiru has held senior roles in both public and private sector institutions, including Director, General Manager, and Accountant. He has served as a consultant to the World Bank, focusing on communication and client care training, and was part of the Research Team that conducted the World Bank's 2021 national survey on client feedback in Ghana.

His public service includes notable appointments such as Board Member of the Internal Audit Agency (2014–2017), Audit Committee Member for the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs (2018–2020), and Finance Committee Member of the National Petroleum Authority (2021–2024).

Dr. Bashiru holds a PhD in Management from the University of Central Nicaragua (European Programmes, Austria), a Master of Arts in Marketing Management from Birmingham City University (UK), and a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast. He is a Chartered Marketer and a proud member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).

An accomplished academic, Dr. Bashiru currently serves as a Senior Lecturer at Accra Technical University. He has also held previous roles as Dean of the Faculty of Business and Head of the Department of Marketing. He lectures part-time at the University of Applied Management and has taught at the Chartered Institute of Bankers and the Catholic Institute of Business and Technology. His academic contributions include over 15 peer-reviewed international publications in finance, banking, and marketing.

A respected corporate trainer and motivational speaker, Dr. Bashiru has conducted tailored training sessions for senior banking professionals from institutions such as National Investment Bank and GCB Bank, covering leadership, customer service, effective supervision, and organizational communication. Additionally, he is a leading expert in local governance, having trained staff and Assembly Members of more than 30 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across Ghana.
